This course helps BC home builders correctly determine which protection level a below-grade assembly actually needs, based on exposure conditions and, most critically, whether hydrostatic pressure is present.

You'll translate that decision into practical wall-assembly requirements and application expectations, cover the related requirements for floor and foundation moisture management, and see how soil gas control fits within the same Code section — then apply every decision point through practical scenarios so the framework holds up on real sites.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

Determine whether a below-grade assembly requires dampproofing, waterproofing, or related protection based on exposure conditions, including the presence of hydrostatic pressure

Apply the practical wall-assembly requirements and application expectations tied to each protection level

Meet the related below-grade requirements for floor and foundation moisture management

Apply soil gas control requirements within the same Code section and work through practical below-grade compliance scenarios
