WorkSafeBC inspections are a normal part of residential construction, but being unprepared can lead to delays, orders, penalties, and unnecessary stress. This course provides residential builders, supervisors, and site leaders with the knowledge and practical skills to confidently prepare for, participate in, and respond to a WorkSafeBC worksite inspection.
Participants will learn what typically triggers an inspection, the documentation and records that should be readily available, and how demonstrating due diligence through organized, verifiable records can support compliance.
The course also explores the roles and responsibilities of employers, supervisors, workers, and prime contractors during an inspection, along with the high-risk areas WorkSafeBC commonly reviews on residential job sites. Through practical examples, learners will gain an understanding of inspection findings related to fall protection, excavation and trenching, and worker orientation, as well as how to interpret and respond to orders, stop-work directives, and administrative penalties.
At the end of the course participants will be able to :

Identify common reasons a WorkSafeBC officer may attend a residential jobsite,
including routine inspections. -
Match jobsite duties to the employer, supervisor, worker, and prime contractor
roles. -
Recognize the fall protection conditions an officer is likely to check on a
residential site. - Interpret the practical meaning of an order and identify what action is required.

hazard and the underlying cause.
